THE RULES OF THE 4TH FESTIVAL OF SHANTIES AND MARINE SONGS IN THE BIESZCZADY MOUNTAINS "BIESZCZADY POD ŻAGLEM"

RULES FOR CONTESTANTS


During the 4th Festival "Bieszczady pod Żaglem" 2017 in Polańczyk, there will be a contest for singers and musicians who play and sing shanties, marine or road and trip songs. The contest participants will have to meet the requirements of the following rules:

 

CONTESTANTS:

  • The contest is designed for bands and soloists whose songs are consistent with the main subject of the festival - shanties, under sail, marine, road and trip songs, sung poetry.
  • Children, youth and adults can take part in the contest. The minors shall submit a written consent of a parent or guardian to take part in the contest. The organizer requires that children should be in charge of the adults or guardians during the Festival "Bieszczady pod Żaglem” 2017. The application form contains a sample statement.
  • Soloists and bands from Poland and abroad can participate in the contest.

 

PARTICIPATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

- Authors of lyrics and music of each song for the contest shall be specified in the form.
- The repertoire should be consistent with the main subject of the festival. Authorial songs and individual arrangements of the songs are allowed.
- The performers must submit demo mp3 files with at least 10 minutes of their artistic programme.

 

  • The application forms, copyright statements and recordings should be sent by e-mail to kontakt@slepakura.com
  • The deadline for submitting application forms and audio files is 15 June 2017.
  • After considering the applications and audio recordings, the contest committee shall specify the contestants within 7 days. and inform them about it by phone and/or e-mail.


STAGES OF THE FESTIVAL

  • 1 January-15 June 2017 - submission of contest application forms.
  • 30 June 2017 - completion of participant qualification process for the contest (judgement of submitted audio recordings).
  • 14 July 2017 - the jury announces the candidates qualified for the contest.
  • 11 August 2017 - road and trip song contest and announcement of the winners.
  • 12 August 2017 - undersail song contest and announcement of the winners.


CANDIDATES QUALIFIED

  • During the festival, the organizer of the 4th "Bieszczady pod Żaglem" 2017 festival will provide board and lodging for the contestants.
  • The candidates qualified for the contest shall send their technical riders within 7 working days from the candidate announcement day. The tech rider may be send by e-mail to kontakt@slepakura.com
  • The festival performers shall take part in acoustic rehearsals organized during contest audition days. The festival organizer will inform the participants about the place and time of the rehearsals on the spot.
  • The purpose of the rehearsals is to set appropriate sound parameters for the performers and audience as well as to discuss technical requirements of each performer. Since the rehearsal time is limited, the performers are not allowed to play the whole artistic programme.
  • During the contest, the jury will judge the performance, artistic arrangement, and performance quality (i.e. general impression and appearance of the performer on the stage).
  • Having signed the copyright transfer statement, the contestants shall accept the ways of recording and use of audio and video material from the festival by the organizer, which are specified in the aforementioned statement.
  • The winners of the contest shall take part in the winner concert; their artistic programmes cannot be longer than 30 min.
  • The accompanying persons who do not assist the disabled, do not look after the minors, are not their parents and do not participate in the festival, are not allowed to put forward any claims concerning board and lodging against the organizer. The organizer does not bear any responsibility for these people.
  • The organizer will hold the festival participants responsible for any damage directly or indirectly caused by the artists and will will demand financial compensation from them in the case of property destruction etc. to repair the damage. In the case of the inability of a culprit to pay the compensation to the sufferer, the organizer will have to take a legal action against such a culprit.
  • The organizer bears no responsibility for theft or any other punishable acts caused by the festival participants.
  • The organizer reserves the right to change the time schedule of the contest, change the place of the contest in the area of Polańczyk, and to disqualify the contestant for any improper behaviour, e.g. misuse of alcohol or any other substances.
  • The organizer will demand that the participants, prior to coming onto the stage, should sign alcohol drinking prohibition statement whose violation will be treated unambiguously - the participant will be disqualified from the contest or winner concert. In such a case, the organizer has the right to demand the refund of board and lodging costs.
  • The organizer shall make decisions concerning the order of contest performances.
  • Verdicts of the jury are irrevocable.
  • The organizer reserves the right to make changes in the Festival Rules.
  • Any controversial issues related to the festival shall be settled by the organizer.
  • The organizer shall make final decisions concerning the interpretation of the regulations contained herein.
